Lab Grown Diamonds- A considered Perspective

Lab-grown diamonds have become increasingly popular in recent years. They are often positioned as modern, accessible, and visually identical to natural diamonds. And to the naked eye, that part is true. A lab-grown diamond shares the same physical and chemical structure as a natural diamond. Under standard viewing, they look the same but what matters in fine jewellery has never been limited to appearance alone.

What They Are — And What They Are Not

Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments using high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) or chemical vapour deposition (CVD) processes. They are manufactured to replicate the structure of natural diamonds in a matter of weeks.
Natural diamonds, by contrast, are formed over billions of years beneath the earth’s surface — shaped by pressure, time, and geological conditions that cannot be reproduced.

This difference is not visual, it is fundamental.
One is produced. while the other is formed.

Understanding Value

One of the most important distinctions — and one often overlooked — is how each holds value over time.
Lab-grown diamonds are part of a growing supply chain. As production technology improves, supply increases. As supply increases, pricing continues to shift downward. It is simply how manufactured goods behave.

Natural diamonds operate differently. Their supply is finite. Their value is tied not only to quality, but to rarity, provenance, and long-standing market demand.
They are bought, worn, kept, and often passed down.

Why We Choose Natural Diamonds

At House of Bibique, we work with natural diamonds because we see jewellery as something that carries meaning beyond the moment it is given.
A diamond is not simply selected for how it looks today, it becomes part of a personal history — and often, a family one.

Natural diamonds hold structure in both form and value. They sit within a market that recognises them, supports them, and allows them to be resold, reset, or passed on with clarity.
This is why they remain the standard in heirloom jewellery. Much like a fine timepiece — the intention is not only ownership, but continuity.

Our Position
We do not offer lab-grown diamonds as part of our collection. This is not a rejection of their existence, but a reflection of what we choose to stand behind for our engagement rings. Our focus remains on natural diamonds — selected with precision, guided by proportion, light performance, and long-term value.
